About guiljam.nl
guiljam.nl is a personal site with short concert videos and the setlists of those nights. It is a hobby of someone who has been building websites and databases since 2002, with music on all day.
How the site came about
Anyone who plays music through the whole working day wants to hear that music live too. And anyone standing at a concert soon films a song on their phone. It usually ends there: the clips disappear among thousands of photos and are never watched again. That is a pity, because reliving a concert is a joy, even when picture and sound are not perfect. That is why the clips are gathered here, per concert and in the order of the night, with the setlist alongside to listen back to the whole show. A night can be watched again in a few clicks.
A hobby, not a business
The site has no commercial purpose. There are no ads, it is not promoted anywhere and it is not a shop window for services. Whoever ends up here came through a search engine or out of curiosity.
A sandbox anyone may look into
Building websites is the day job; this site is the private sandbox. Because nothing depends on it, there is room to try out techniques that have no place in regular work, and to rebuild something when that makes it better. The concerts are the reason it started; the building is at least half the fun. Everyone is welcome to look around: there may be something fun or useful in it.
What you will and will not find here
The clips are recordings from the crowd: the picture moves and the sound is sometimes loud. There are no reviews and no complete registrations. What you do get is who played, what was played and what it looked like. The clips play through YouTube and the music through Spotify; what that means for your data is on the privacy page.
Where the data comes from
The clips are own recordings, filmed from the crowd and posted on YouTube. The setlists are put together per concert in the order of the night; the songs play in the version that is on Spotify, so usually the studio recording and not the performance of that night. The year next to a song is the year of that release on Spotify. The data on artists and their members comes from MusicBrainz and Discogs, the chart positions from top40.nl.
